Sara Baurley, 20

Sara M. Baurley is a student at the Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, Georgia. She is currently entering her senior year as a documentary photography major as of Fall 2021. Sara is a self-proclaimed type II fun addict! Type II fun is defined as anything challenging while it's happening but fun in the end when looking back and remembering. For Sara, this would be hiking and kayaking anywhere and everywhere with her camera. Some of Sara's favorite hiking trails are along the Appalachian Mountains. Her dream is to one day complete a northbound thru-hike of the entire Appalachian Trail, beginning at Springer Mountain, Georgia, and ending at Katahdin, Maine.

While away at school in Savannah, Sara gets her fill of hiking fun at Skidaway Island State Park and the Savannah National Wildlife Refuge. Her hiking and photography obsession first began during the summer of 2016 on a trip to the Blue Ridge Mountains in North Carolina. At the time, all she had to shoot with was an iPhone 6, but today she shoots on a Canon EOS Rebel T6i.

Recently, Sara was a photography intern in Big Sky, Montana, for Global Treks and Adventures' upcoming hiking publication. When Sara graduates next spring, she hopes to pursue more projects like this! In the first photo, pictured alongside Sara is her four-legged cousin and favorite hiking buddy, Sophie, an English Bulldog. Sara believes hiking is always more fun with a furry friend!
