This adventure begins at Woody Gap Recreational Area. You will park in a small parking area located within the Chattahoochee National Forest. There is a parking area on either side so be sure to park on the side with the restrooms.

This hike can get busy on the weekends so we recommend getting there early. This out-and-back hike is categorized as moderate, is dog friendly, and is just under 2 miles in length. The beginning of this hike is quite easy with gentle elevation gains and mostly flat.

You will go nearly a mile and then come upon a winding rock staircase that will lead you up a series of steep switchbacks. This area is rocky. Do not be discouraged, this does not last long. There are plenty of places to catch your breath and enjoy the view.

It’s short distance makes it a great trail for beginning hikers though the steep inclines can also be challenging. You will gain 440 feet in elevation in less than two miles. The breath-taking views at the end really make this hike worth it. Regardless of the weather, you can guarantee the views at the top will be fantastic.
