Fort Yargo State Park is unique, beautiful, and houses many different hiking trails and outdoor activities. It has a beach to take the family down to after you finish hiking for the day. The beach is large and has many different places to access the water. The Bird Berry Nature Trail is one of many beautiful trails within this park. The trail begins at the Visitor's Center. This trail is paved and perfect for strollers or wheelchairs. You can also access the trail from a well-maintained dirt path that will add a short distance to your hike. We opted this direction so that we could take in views of the lake. This trail takes you near the lake before connecting to the start of the Bird Berry Trail.

The Birdberry Trail begins at this sign. It is a 1/2 mile paved trail in one direction, so it will be one mile total. This trail is gorgeous with many different informational signs about the wildlife and foliage on the trail.

It’s short distance makes this a great trail for families and little ones. Make it a point to get outside and search for wildlife together. This is a fun place to relax and enjoy a weekend as a family.
